DragonCon 2012

Labor Day in Atlanta. It can only mean one thing! That's right it's time for the annual scifi, fantasy, pop culture convention known as Dragon Con! And you thought I was going to say college football.

While always a fun time Dragon Con does seem to throw me for a loop.

I have always prided myself on the fact that I know Star Wars line for line, and for the most part I get the timey wimey of Dr. Who.

Yet each year (this was my third time attending) I can't help feel that I am really not as much of a nerd/geek/fan that I think that I am!

As I wonder around three of the four convention hotels (poor Westin - does anything go on over there?) I can't help feel I didn't do my homework. As I ask for a picture and the cosplayers pose, I severely have to hold back the urge to ask who exactly they are portraying!

And then I round a corner and I see something that I get! And I laugh and feel the nerd pride kick in. I get! I got it! Whoo hoo for me! And always there is a crowd of people who saunter by and have no idea what is going on.

All has been restored to the nerd/geek universe.

So behold the costumes of Dragon 2012. Can't wait for 2013 - I would seriously like to see more Sherlock though!

  1. Fabulous costumes! I'd love to go to a SciFi convention some day... but they're all very far away and seem to be frightfully expensive.
