Carmel-by-the-Sea is a quaint seaside village on the Monterey Peninsula. Only a 10 minute drive from the Tickle Pink Inn (where we were staying) this uber chic shopping and dining destination is a wonderful way to spend and afternoon window shopping and visiting wine tasting rooms.
I first visited Carmel in the 80s when I was a kid. I never forgot how wonderful and beautiful this area was, and I was curious to see if it had changed at all since I visited last.
Carmel-by-the-Sea is still a fairytale like village set on a grid of streets with hidden nooks and alleyways perfect for exploring.
It is a dog friendly town that still draws the rich and famous to come and play in it's restaurants and art galleries while us ordinary folk are as just as welcome. In the 80s I felt like only those with money were allowed to wonder this idyllic little town. This time around Carmel felt more accessible to me. The village was still quaint. The location still beautiful. I still felt so very happy to be there. And once we got there I felt like I had never been away.
