The Vasa ship really impressed me! Getting to walk through all the decks... the first time I was able to really "get" how large those ships were! :o)

The Aquarium is also fabulous! Small and sweet, with some amazing settings.

I'd love to go back for a proper visit... I have a Greek friend living there, so maybe some day I will!!!

Oh, and it was World Oceans Day this weekend, did you know? UK or US?" (UK because you're combining with a trip to London). And I've travelled A LOT as you know! ;o)

The type of people you described, not only uninterested in travel, but who can't seem to understand why anyone would want to go to another country, are the type of people I DO NOT want to hang out with! How can a person be so narrow-minded to be even unable to imagine there might be something of interest beyond the boundaries of their small world?!

I personally think the world would be a better place if more people travelled, and travelled for real. By which I mean took the time to really appreciate a country, its people and its culture. And not just stick to the guided package tours which only show them the "main sites" and isolate them from the real world.

As for the point of this blog? Why I thought you were writing it for me of course!!! :p You keep showing me places I haven't been to yet, some I hadn't ever heard of or considered travelling to, and you whet my travel appetite! I want to hear more about the Cotswolds! I might want to organise a little stay there on one of my visits to my sister who lives in Colchester... ;o)CrazyCrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17512240982215608638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1669174416031015434.post-2701566248006385512013-04-12T08:03:31.478-04:002013-04-12T08:03:31.478-04:00I've observed that language mix-up phenomenon ...I've observed that language mix-up phenomenon in others! When you're trying to learn/speak a new language, your other main "foreign language" tends to intrude! It passes after a while. But in exchange if you advance in your studies of your second foreign language then sometimes (quite often in fact) you forget a lot of your first foreign language unless you do something to keep up with it!

The English teaching is going well, got hired by a language academy that just opened up across the street from my apartment! The pay isn't nearly as good as what I charged privately, but at least I'm covered by social security etc... Plus they keep giving me more hours and interesting classes so... great! Until I can find a decent Biology-related job that is... ;o)CrazyCrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17512240982215608638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1669174416031015434.post-37836795213964118982013-04-12T07:46:11.416-04:002013-04-12T07:46:11.416-04:00Thanks! I hadn't used Spanish since High School - so don't know where that came from! I love sitting on the Ile St Louis with a bottle of wine. So nice! Good luck with your English teaching! Not one I need personally having been to France more times than I can count and being fluent in the language (I'm showing off here, sorry!), but because of my experience I can testify to how useful these points are!

DEFINITELY DO NOT expect everyone to speak English! Good luck finding people who speak decent English in fact! The French (and Spanish and Italians) seem to have some kind of mental block when it comes to learning English. I've been teaching English for several years now, fighting to bring that mental wall down student by student, and I have yet to fully understand why it's there!

And the tip about learning a few basics in the local language and greeting people in it? (the bare minimum is hello, please and thank you) This applies to EVERY country in the world! You'll get a much better welcome if they see you making even the tiniest of efforts! ;o)

Oh, and in Paris fix yourself a picnic and go eat at the tip of the Ile St Louis (island with Notre Dame), lovely!CrazyCrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17512240982215608638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1669174416031015434.post-1399350242868994082013-03-21T15:57:30.444-04:002013-03-21T15:57:30.444-04:00I'm definitely bookmarking this post for my ne...I'm definitely bookmarking this post for my next visit to London!!! :o)CrazyCrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17512240982215608638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1669174416031015434.post-31606645322587552172013-03-19T12:11:21.501-04:002013-03-19T12:11:21.501-04:00Fantastic!!
